Mead Barn Holiday Cottages are ideally suited for a walking holiday with plenty to occupy you whether staying for only a short break or several weeks. Within just 100 yards of our location are 5 public foot paths ideal both for those looking for picturesque gentle strolls and the more dedicated walker.
There is access to a large network of local footpaths including the South West Coastal Path, which runs within half a mile of your holiday cottage taking in some of North Devon and Cornwall’s most breath-taking views, wild life and flora. For your convenience we have supplied each cottage with local OS maps.
Each cottage has a selection of local walks and many walks take you near one of our local pubs where you can enjoy some refreshment or perhaps lunch. Two of our recommended walks which can be taken straight from the cottages are shown below.
Welcombe Cliffs and Mouth
This walk has some lovely coastal views and an almost aerial view of the Welcombe Mouth valley. It starts easily but has a steep descent down the hillside and a steep climb back up the lane. Duration of just over an hour and can be combined with other recommended walks for a longer expedition. Click on the map to view it on a full OS map.

Three Hamlets
This walk takes you through three of the hamlets that make up Welcombe; Mead, East Town and Darracott. It is mostly along quiet country lanes with a short section along a footpath and through a small copse. It should take about an hour. Click on the map to view it on a full OS map.
